Personally I think that other movie Captain Ron summed up how the Caribbean affects you when sailing.

It’s a tough call to choose which is best, the Mediterranean or Caribbean but who cares? it’s just a great place to sail, each has special attractions and both offer loads of wonderful islands and destinations, full of great people, great food and a lot more. The Caribbean Sea has a great chain of volcanic islands stretching the entire length, and there are peaceful and deserted coral atolls to mountainous and jungle islands. I used to work on a banana boat years back traversing the length and breadth of the Caribbean and sailing it is a real treat. The sailing legacy from hundreds of years of explorers, colonial exploitation, wars of possession, these islands have it all. The Caribbean has been vibrant and action packed for 200 hundred years and more and nothing has changed.

The Caribbean is all about choice and choosing is the hardest thing of all. Besides great tradewind sailing, and sheltered waterways and some of the best secluded anchorages you could hope for, the attractions of each island are many.

No matter where you go there are some great bars and some pulsating Caribbean nightlife, most towns and ports pulsate after dark, and it’s addictive. You can taste European culture in the Dutch and French owned islands or just mix it up while in Jamaica and other fun loving islands.

For me the next big attraction is the great and very varied cuisine or cruisine as I call it. It’s a culinary adventure to say the least and highly recommended, try everything! A Caribbean-Yacht-Charter is never boring!

The various inhabited and uninhabited islands possess the most spectacular white powder beaches, the post cards and photos just can’t do them justice. Many of those same islands also have lush tropical rainforest and cloud shrouded mountain peaks, in short it’s worth sailing too. This is not to mention the prolific and exotic birdlife. I love being underwater so there is some of the best diving and snorkeling, and also some great fishing as well.
